What is Sleep Hygiene and Why Is It Important?

Sleep Hygiene, according to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, is the act of controlling “all behavioural and environmental factors that precede sleep and may interfere with sleep.”

Luckily, there are scientifically proven ways to get all aspects of sleep hygiene back on track.

Like good nutrition and physical movement, good-quality sleep is a basic need and a key element of our physical and mental health. Sleep is crucial for almost all processes in our body – learning, memory, concentration, mood and emotions, immune system, blood pressure, sex drive, etc. So, it’s important to take steps to improve our sleep hygiene, so we can maximize the quality of our sleep and the benefits we get from good sleeping habits.

My colleagues at Precision Nutrition have written a great blog about good sleep habits, and I want to share it with you. They share tons of helpful tips and strategies to help you get some good night sleep and wake up refreshed and ready for the day. I recommend you to take a look.
