Mental Health Support for Construction Workers

Construction is one of the toughest industries — physically and mentally. Long hours, high-stakes work, financial pressure, chronic pain, layoffs between contracts, and a culture that often discourages talking about how you're really doing all take a toll. Counselling provides a confidential space to deal with what's actually going on.

  • Anxiety, stress, and overwhelm
  • Burnout and exhaustion
  • Depression and low mood
  • Alcohol and substance use concerns
  • Chronic pain and injury recovery
  • Relationship and family strain
  • Workplace conflict and job pressure

How Counselling Works

  1. Share what's going on. Tell us about your concerns and goals.
  2. Get matched. We connect you with a therapist who fits your needs.
  3. Start therapy. Gain insight and tools you can apply in real life.

Support Built for the Trades

Construction work is demanding in ways most people don't see. Early starts, physically punishing days, pressure from deadlines and project budgets, time away from family, and the constant uncertainty between contracts. On top of that, the culture often makes it hard to say you're struggling. We provide counselling that fits how you actually work.

Burnout from long hours and back-to-back projects

Alcohol or substance use as a way to cope

Anger, irritability, and shutting down at home

Chronic pain affecting mood and sleep

Anxiety about job security or layoffs

Relationship strain from being gone or exhausted

Grief after a workplace injury or loss of a coworker

Returning to work after injury or time off

Construction Mental Health FAQs

The questions guys actually ask before reaching out.

Why is mental health such a big issue in construction?
Construction workers experience some of the highest rates of stress, substance use, and mental health struggles of any industry. Long hours, physical pain, financial pressure, job instability, and a culture that discourages talking about struggles all contribute. The work is hard, and pretending otherwise makes it harder.
Is counselling confidential? Will my employer find out?
Yes — counselling is fully confidential. Your employer is not told you're attending sessions, and what you share with your therapist stays between you and your therapist. The only exceptions are legal duties to report immediate risk of harm.
I work long days — when can I actually fit in a session?
We offer evening, early morning, and weekend appointments online so you can attend from your truck, your home, or wherever you are. Sessions are typically 50 minutes and don't require taking a day off.
Are sessions covered by insurance or benefits?
Many union plans, construction benefits packages, and extended health plans cover psychotherapy and counselling. We provide receipts for reimbursement. Check your plan or ask us for help confirming coverage.
Can you help if I'm drinking or using more than I want to be?
Yes. Substance use is common in construction and often connected to stress, pain, and hard days. We work with you without judgement to understand what's driving it and build healthier ways to cope.
Do you offer support for construction companies and crews?
Yes. We provide lunch and learn sessions, toolbox talks on mental health, and workplace wellness programs for construction companies, trades, and contractors. Contact us to discuss your team's needs.
