Real Life Counselling • Ajax, Ontario
Online counselling in Ajax, therapy that fits your life, not your commute.
You shouldn’t have to add another crawl along the 401 to talk to the right therapist. We provide secure online and virtual counselling for Ajax and Durham Region, matched to what you’re actually navigating, often within a week.
WHY ONLINE COUNSELLING WORKS FOR AJAX
The commuter rhythm of life in Ajax is exactly what online therapy was built for.
- Commuters on the Ajax GO line or the 401 who don’t have another hour to give
- Shift workers at Ajax Pickering Hospital on rotating schedules
- Parents in growing subdivisions juggling work, school runs, and activities
- People who’d rather not run into someone they know in a local waiting room
- Couples who’d rather talk from their own living room
- Patients referred by their family doctor
Counselling in Ajax with Registered Psychotherapists
Real Life Counselling provides online and virtual counselling to residents of Ajax and Durham Region, Ontario. The practice was founded in 2009 and every therapist who sees Ontario clients is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Sessions are delivered by secure video anywhere in Ontario, and the most common reasons Ajax clients reach out include anxiety, stress and burnout, depression, couples and relationship challenges, grief, and parenting pressure. Most clients begin within a week.
Ajax runs on the 401: the GO platform before sunrise, careers downtown or across Durham, kids in programs most evenings, and homes that took two incomes to reach. Most of the people who reach out to us here are holding a demanding calendar together with no slack in it, and the first thing to get cut is always themselves.
Online therapy fits that rhythm better than an office ever did: no drive across Durham, no parking, no waiting room. Sessions happen from your home office between calls, the kitchen after bedtime, or wherever is private, with evening and weekend appointments that survive a full calendar.
A PRACTICE, NOT A SOLO ACT
Founder-led. Team-delivered. Ontario-registered.
Real Life Counselling was founded in 2009 by Ashley Kreze, a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a Registered Clinical Counsellor in BC, with more than 17 years of clinical experience.
When you reach out, we match you with the therapist on our team whose approach, experience, and personality fit what you’re navigating, not just whoever has the next opening. Every ON client is served under CRPO registration, to Ontario clinical standards.

How virtual counselling works for Ajax
Virtual counselling is not a watered-down version of in-person therapy. Decades of research show online therapy is as effective as in-person care for most concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and trauma. What changes is the access: for a commuter town like Ajax, that’s usually the difference between starting therapy and putting it off another year.
Sessions are 50 minutes over secure, encrypted, PHIPA-compliant video. No recordings are kept, and everything you share is protected by the same confidentiality requirements as in-person therapy. You join from your home office, your parked car, or the kitchen after bedtime; your therapist is the same registered professional either way. Evening and weekend appointments mean a session can fit around real schedules, and if work or the family calendar blows up, therapy moves with you instead of falling off the calendar.
What we help Ajax clients work through
Real life rarely fits a single label. These are the most common reasons people in Ajax and Durham Region reach out, and if yours isn’t here, that doesn’t mean we can’t help.
Anxiety
The kind that wakes you at 3 a.m. The kind that hums in the background of every conversation. The kind nobody else sees.
Burnout & stress
You’re doing fine on paper. In your body, you’re not. Therapy for the high-functioning version of running on empty.
Depression
Whether it’s the weight that won’t lift or the numbness that crept in slowly, there’s a path back.
Couples & relationships
Communication patterns, recurring fights, drifting apart, repairing after a rupture. Couples work that goes beyond techniques.
Parenting & family pressure
The mental load of a commuter household: little kids, big mortgages, two schedules that never align, and no village yet.
Life transitions
A move, a separation, a new baby, a career change, settling into a new community. The work of becoming someone new.
Grief & loss
A person, a relationship, a version of yourself. Grief isn’t linear and it doesn’t run on a timeline.
Workplace & career
Difficult workplaces, leaving a role, returning from leave, and the pressures you can’t bring to HR.
